As a returning contestant in this competition and 2013 prize winner, Christopher Richardson holds many awards. He has appeared as featured performer on NPR’s “From the Top” and several other radio and television stations. In 2013, Christopher was selected as one of the scholarship winners at the National Chopin Foundation and the National Young Arts Foundation which earned him invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall, Field Concert Hall, Gould Rehearsal Hall, Harris Concert Hall, McCallum Theater and Music Tent.
As winner of the Young Artists Concerto Competition, Christopher performed with the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra and the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra. He was the winner of the 2012 State CAPMT Concerto, Contemporary and Honors Auditions and the California MTNA. Christopher has also won first prizes at the Seattle International Piano Competition (2011), the International Russian Competition (2012 and 2013), Ross McKee, Berkeley Etude Club and the Pacific Musical Society, among others.
Many fine teachers and coaches have influenced Christopher’s musical education. He participated in master classes and lessons with such notable musicians and pedagugues as Robert McDonald, Seymour Lipkin, Catherine Kautsky, Robert Shannon, Robert Schwartz, Frederick Weldy and William Wellborn.
