ASydney native, Rio started learning piano at the age of 8 and composition at the age of 9. He is currently a year 12 student and 6th year full scholarship recipient in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Rising Stars Program.
Among his competition successes are the 1st prize in the Hailun International Piano Competition in the 10th Shanghai International Music Festival. He also won five 1st prizes (Including Open Age, Senior, Junior, 15 & over and improvisation) in the 18th Hong Kong Asian International Piano Competition.
He has participated in the 7th China International Piano Competition Masterclass in Xiamen China, the Aspen Music Summer Festival, and the Italy Lake Como International Piano Summer School. In 2016, he won the 4th prize in the 1st Beijing International Chopin Piano Competition for Youth Senior Section, and the prize for best performance of a compulsory contemporary piece.
Rio has recorded for the Sydney Fine Music 102.5 Radio Station, and did a 45 minute recital recording for ABC Classic FM Radio Station.
